Forever Young Poem by Melissa June

Forever Young

Longing to be young, once again
A young girl, with not yet an interest in men
When I believed strangers, I could trust
With only fears of going to the dentist
Pain was blown away by a kiss
I miss those days, when I thought I was a princess
When fairy tales came true
About real life, I never had a clue
These small things, I wish I never out grew
I wish my maturity never broke through
For it's easier to be a child
Rambunctious and wild
Innocent and pure
I choose to take this simpler detour
To be blinded from the world
Tu tu's to be twirled
Forgotten reality
All seriousness aside, a time to be silly
Just as I was, way back when
I shall be young, once again.
