Forgive And Forget Poem by U Win Kyi

Forgive And Forget

Someone has said to me an insult.
It caused my feeling very hurt.
But I never bear a grudge.
Let alone saying 'you crazy nut '.
Keeping in mind what my parents always said.
It is about 'Forgive and Forget'
Which I practise very perfect.
It is like someone gives me a thing which I refuse to receive,
It will be returned to the giver who has to keep.
It is also like throwing and catching the boomerang,
It will injure the thrower's hand.
I neither look like an injured animal licking its wound,
Nor let the revengeful wrath accompany me to my tomb.
For a dreadful vengeance, I will never seek,
I will willingly turn my other cheek.
I never keep hatred in my chest,
Because it will cause me a burden of stress.
It is like an acid which is strong and erosive,
It will turn my mind violent and aggressive.
It causes more damage to the pot in which it is stored,
Than to the object onto which it is poured.
When I forget, I forget it totally complete,
Like clicking the mouse on the button 'DELETE'
'Forgive and Forget' is an easy task,
I don't need anybody to ask.
For....giving, I give love, sympathy and understanding.
For....getting, I get peace of mind as a GOD's blessing.
Not only peace but also pleasure in my mind.
It cost me not even a piece of dime.
Among people, my reputation always shine.
The insulter sits, sulks, scowls and whines.
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth is not my doctrine.
Foul-mouthing, ill-talking and bickering, all thrown into the trash bin.
I will never let myself wallow in deep sorrow,
But looking and marching forward tomorrow.
For reconciliation, my heart is always open.
The insulter can enter every now and then.
Always welcome and it will never be shut,
And never attached with 'if ' or 'but'.
I would like to mend the broken bridge,
According to my GOD's wish.

You are right, it's so much better to forgive and try to forget than to hold a grudge. It only hurts us when we do that. Very well written! Keep writing and sharing with us! Marilyn
