Forgive Me Lord Poem by Rose Falcone

Forgive Me Lord

Rating: 5.0

I faltered Lord please forgive me
Darkness overtook me and I plodded about
Through all of life’s challenges of varying degree
I despaired not surrendered for your will to play out

The lives of my children are in your mighty hand
They were never mine in the first place
My present and my future are in your command
Control is not mine, Your will I embrace

I spent my life searching and scurrying
Towards what I thought was your will
It turns out that all that wiggling and worrying
Was pitting my own will against yours to fulfill

So out of the darkness to you I now yield
Out of this battle I rise without strife
I lay down my sword and pick up your shield
Of Your truth, Your hope and everlasting life

An excellent prayer of retrospective vision!
