For My One Love Poem by Rose Falcone

For My One Love

It seems like yesterday I saw your face
You thought it funny to stand in my space
I suppose my reaction was to your delight
And though it was quirky it all felt quite right!

Our first date we shared a meal side by side
The conversation never lost its stride
After dark we took a stroll in the park
Unbeknownst of the love upon we embark

This incredibly small town with no where to hide
Two lovers searching a refuge but denied
The cemetery beckoned, so dark and serene
We found a shadow to share a kiss unseen

Through all your own struggles you remained true
To the vision you were given by the One who
Granted your prayer for a lonely life no more
Your faith and conviction was hard to ignore

And me with my own twisted tales of heartbreak
I shudder to think of my critical mistake
It almost cost me the love of my life
Grateful you still want me as your wife

I could never imagine my life without you
You are the anchor for this kite’s been askew
My superman, my lover, my friend and my glue
I thank God eternal for seeing this through
