Forgiven Poem by Duke Benson

Forgiven

I remember with flooding tears
The 18th day of June
At the wedding reception of the Mensah’s
It was dance time and I wanted you only
I looked round, yet you I didn’t find

I searched and searched and found
You in my car with that man
Kissing, sexing whatever
The pain, the shock, the sear
Through my very heart I couldn’t bear
Then you left not even with a word

Now you back
Asking for forgiveness
Girl, I’ve forgiven and forgotten

When I met you, your aura made me tame
My heart I gave you to keep safe
I vowed: with your heart, I won’t play any game
You pledged you would do the same
Yet, you put me to disgraceful shame

Now you’re back asking for forgiveness

The night you told me you’d have a baby
Was skeptical, yet I was joyful
Took care of you, my all was there for you
Then you run, you left with our baby
With that guy, his name so filthy I can't mention
Abandoned and lost with no baby
You return asking for forgiveness

Darling, I just want you to know this
All that happened is past tense
You have been forgiven
And you have been forgotten
You’re like a movie
And this is
THE END!
