Forgotten Hero's Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

Forgotten Hero's

In Base camps and LZ's
In Combat zones.
The Donut Dollies and Nurses
Held their own.

They made us laugh
Shared a story or two.
Those beautiful women
Who saw us through.

Through good times and bad.
The Nurses were there.
Had so much courage.
Showed they cared.

We owe our sanity
and to some our life.
Those wonderful women
Who worked day and night.

They healed our wounds.
Opened their hearts.
Forever in our memories
They will be a part.

So, this Veterans Day
A big warm salute.
From this combat vet
To those wonderful few.
Have a wonderful day.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Needed to write this one to thank the women who served during the Vietnam War. They never really got the recognition they deserved.
