Forlorn Damnity Poem by David Thomas

Forlorn Damnity

swimming in the ocean
which only satisfies so long
the urges of the barbarian call
that wakes and quakes beneath my soul
underneath the inside of my heart
the one true piece of me
that i keep locked away,
for fear that it should catalyze
that i would break away and destroy
everything i ever held dear
but before i knew it he was gone
out the cage and out the door
walking on the bus, in the park, on the floor,
and there it was when i was hit
the only reason i do not fit
i've lost sight of everything
starting from when i saw it all
and now i am simply waiting for the fall.

but what if it never comes...
but if it never comes...
and if it never comes...
i will be just as lost as i was
swimming in the ocean
which only satisfies so long...
