Fortune - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Fortune shines like a firefly, hidden in the dark
Flitting about randomly
And for a brief second here
And a flickering second there
Illuminating and guiding

Fortune eclipses, like night in a cave
The heaviest of darkness, suffocating
One corner like the next
One moment eternal
Coming from nowhere, going nowhere

Fortune confuses and confounds
Like a child’s will
Outrageous, unpredictable
Fortune laughs and cries
Occasionally together

Fortune can be influenced
But not bent to one’s will
Fortune can be felt
But is wholly intangible
Fortune influences the world

But fortune is not destiny

Fortune is NOT destiny. You can change fortune, but not destiny. This is a great write. And thank you for your nice comments on my poem Fate. (Report) Reply

This is indeed a splendid write! Yes fortune is so fickle.... it comes and goes and is never steady!

    Fortune can be influenced
But not bent to one’s will

So true.....! Thank you Kelly for sharing this poem!

So well said! Your last line tells all: Fortune is not destiny. Among many things, fortune can't get us health, peace and love. Great insight! Thanks, Kelly. (Report) Reply

Thank you, Ken. I imagine that in 100 years you have seen all aspects of fortune. May it shine on you for years to come.
