One step on the floor, and on to the mat.
I opened the door, and out goes my cat.

With one leap in the air, he lands on his feet
With little to no care, about the heat.

Happy to see him, running around.
Long black fur. He's open bound.

A roll in the grass, and stars in his eyes.
How long will this last, and is it wise.

Oh free at last, no worries at all.
It's all in the past, he's having a Blast.
