Walls of steel, bricks and stone
Inside cold, dark, scared, alone
Darts of fire, wrath, hatred, stones
Weep, scream, wail, moan
Won’t come out, no way in
Faithless, hopeless, bound in sin
Neighbour, friend, stranger, kin
Not allowed, can’t help me win
Why the pain? Why the pride?
What to do to get inside
You worked, you fought, you stood, you cried
You hoped, you prayed, you lived, you died
Gentle as the falling snow
Spirit of God begins to blow
Love like a stream begins to flow
Faith like a flower begins to grow
Face my fears, cast them down
Shackles off, no longer bound
What a wonderful, joyful sound
Walls crashing, tumbling, to the ground
Not perfect now, not ‘til heaven will be
But was deaf…now I hear, was blind…now I see
Faithful, hopeful, joyful, free
Neighbour, friend, no stranger…me
