Do Poem by Eldon Cook

Do

Sometimes a man is a valiant fighter, though he’s never seen a foe,
A doting husband and a wonderful father, whom his family doesn’t know,

Sometimes a man is a listening ear, a caring, compassionate friend,
But he does all the talking and to only his own wishes he’ll tend.

He’s the best in his business, just rolling in the doe,
A world class athlete…while he turns the channel to watch another show.

Illusions of grandeur he’s built up in his mind
He thinks himself something, but really he’s blind
A wise man who’s thoughts travel far in the land
He’s really a fool who won’t lift his hand.

You see, a man who knows how but doesn’t follow up with a deed
Is like a boastful coward who withdraws when in need.
His life won’t amount to more than the wind that he spews
He won’t fight the good fight and by default he’ll lose.

It takes sacrifice and courage to make dreams come true.
Love, faith and a resolution, not just to talk…but to do.
