Freedom - Poem by Midifo Yearns

The pain and shame of every man
and woman carrying hungry child
in country born of hope and pride
the devastating waste, deride
and eats into the angry heart
of all who seek the truth.

Could one have known, how sadly done
would be the way, of chosen fate
the arrogance of faithless son
who leads the nation through the gate
of broken promise, failed dreams
that eat into the angry heart
of all who seek the truth.

The violent deaths, the sad decline
the suffering faces tell the tale
oppressive ways and futile line
contain the seeds that make one fail
and break into the angry hearts
of all who seek the truth.

The curse must go the prophet says
this nonsense has gone on for years
The time has come for newness now
to break into the angry hearts
of all who seek the truth.

The dance awaits, the day will come
when all our children will be one
when truth prevails and anger fails
and triumph, is the song that’s sung.
Then all who seek the truth will know
the seeds of glory there to show.

In bursting and unfathomed light
the future of our land is bright
The pain will drain from faces raw
as all the men and women saw
through blocks of hatred, to bestow
and new life to their children show.

The cry will rise the deed is done
at last we are forever one
and gone the snake whose venom now
has lost its bitterness and power
How sweet the sound of feet that come
to herald peace and freedom.
