Freedom Of Fun (Eugene, Oregon) Poem by Rik Bertrand

Freedom Of Fun (Eugene, Oregon)

Awww, the days of joy and Glory,
The days when we all had a story,
Driving and playing, always on the run.
The days of Freedom, the days of fun

Driving the gut, was our natural right,
We never missed that Friday night fight.
Hitting the drive-in when we all got board,
Or outback the stadium on our own accord.

Remember that big Air Balloon indoor track that they had,
That was some fun times that weren't so bad.
Mac court was a riot, in a unique kind of way,
I will remember it all till my last dying day.

Times have all changed, our freedom arranged,
Most of our friends are lost or estranged.
The Gut is all cluttered with trash and police
Nowhere to stop and converse, oh jeeezzzz.

I wonder if you know how life is no more,
How we have been herded and corralled to the core.
How we are watched on every move we make,
How we have lost all the fun in tyrannies sake.

Get up and get out, retake your freedom,
Go out and do something totally Random,
Come on now let's go have some fun,
Let's Show the world were not quite done.

REB (FEB 2012) thanks Gaye Lee Russell and Eugene, Oregon
