French Gender Fluidity

'Bouton' - 'bud' - is masculine 'le'.

So too is 'cabbage' - big bud 'chou'.

'Fleur' - 'flower' - is feminine 'la';
but as a cauliflower still looks a bud
'chou-fleur' is ‘le'.

Though 'flower' is 'la fleur',
'misfortune' is 'le malheur'.

Frizzy cabbage is kale;
chou-frisé is male.
