Friend Or Foe? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Friend Or Foe?

Friends in our college days
Chris and I rarely disagreed
It was as though we were sisters
then one day fate chose to intercede

She meet a guy and thought she was
in love... but not enough to commit
In haste she kicked him to the curb
her heart was saddened by the split

Thought I would try to help patch things up
and went to the confused guy to persuaded
My friend was so glum…she may reconsider
The talking soon mellowed and sadness faded

As time passed, his broken heart mended
we began to care for one another
we found that we had much in common
we began a new life together

When she discovered that he and I had bonded
her friendship turned to intolerance
she didn't want him to be hers… yet
our relationship was not met with acceptance

Needless to say
all hell broke loose and rage ensued
She and I went our separate ways
Eminent…not so farfetched to conclude

Wedding vows were shared
Days of bliss were plentiful until
one day the ecstasy dissolved...
A walk in the clouds went downhill

Now as I think… I have a recollection
of the friendship Chris and I once shared
I think how different it would have been
If her love for him had been declared
