Friendly Web Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Friendly Web

I often wonder why
Why I am a little fly

I have no other friends
Just some gal that spins a web

She tries and tries to invite me in
Come on over, I'll be your friend

A spider in a spider web
All her other friends are dead

So each day we two will play
It seems we are a pair

She, a spider in a web
And me alive out here

One day my friend was on the floor
Her legs were curled within

I came on down and felt so sad
I thought my friend was dead

Just then I heard a chuckling sound
The spider laughed and laughed

She turned around and laughed some more
Then went back into her web

Now I know, I have a friend
Though she is so scary black

That day I knew this deadly gal
Really is my friend
