It's only when I meet friends
that emotions surge like clouds
to merge in heart of the sky
rainbows of delight chuckle
in wet corners of the eye;
peals of laughter clink and clank
like cheer bottles that clang,
grief gives way to glee
relieving the soul of secret sigh,
clutter of clumsy thoughts
cringe and crumble,
wind of ecstasy soars high.
It's only when I meet friends
that old matters settle down
the rattling mind squats down
walls of ego break down
and spirits run quite high
ice-cubes melt
inviting flashes of sun shine.
All shades of differences vanish
tying hearts, shedding inhibition
as love gets chance to flourish
beyond bounds of race or religion.
