Friends are like commercial banks
They're all over the place - service's King
Except when you really need them.
Foes and enemies, the more the merrier
Always there to throw you under the bus
Especially when you're not watching.
Making new friends nowadays is like
Appointing an experienced arsonist to
Fight the raging forest fires.
a wonderful joy and energy in this tongue and cheek truism, perhaps the danger is engaging in friendships, where our interests joys values are not met; an arsonist knows and loves fires, one way of putting out fires is lighting back fires because a fire cannot burn where fire has been, where no fuel is left to burn; a witty profound enjoyable read with pearls of wisdom admired :)
Many thanks for the comments Terry, they say it takes a thief to catch a thief (that's how JFK's father was appointed head of the FED) , so it might well be deliberate strategy to appoint the arsonist, but it didn't cross my mind perhaps because it can easily backfire and it's not good to start with conflicting interest, that besides it's usually safer to fight your own forest fires than ask somebody else to do it for you, happy New Year.
