Friendship Is Honor Poem by Francis Duggan

Friendship Is Honor

Friendship is honor why otherwise pretend

If you are not true to your higher self you cannot be anyone's friend

Your acquaintances are many and your friends are few

And this is not saying anything that is new

The one who does stick by you on your time of most need

Is one who to you is a true friend indeed

It is then who your friends are you will come to realize

On hindsight it is never hard to be wise

And on hindsight with regret you sadly recall

That those you thought were your friends were not your friends at all

When needed most from your life they did disappear

On hindsight thought has proved you wrong to you now is clear

Of the praises of friendship so many does sing

And friendship it can be a beautiful thing

But when life on you is tough and in spirits you feel low

It is then who is or is not your friend you will know

Your friends will stick by you when you are financially down

And doing it quite tough on your side of the town

Your acquaintances many and your friends in the few

And this is not saying anything that is new.
