From A Petrol Station Poem by Genevieve Surrender

From A Petrol Station

'The shareef don't like it,
rockin' the Casbah'
Sang my phone.

I picked up,
non-chalant,
and you said,
'hello'
from a petrol station.

Happy birthday mom,
I'm even more bummed
than I was 15 minutes ago.
