From A Tiny Egg To A Monarch Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

From A Tiny Egg To A Monarch

Tiny egg, so small and neat,
On milkweed leaf, a future sweet.
Hatched so quick, a hungry friend,
Crawling, munching, without end.

Big and long, a fuzzy sight,
Eating leaves with all its might.
Shedding skin, it grows so fast,
Each stage a journey, meant to last.

Then it sleeps, in shell so green,
A magic change, a wondrous scene.
Hanging still, a patient wait,
Becoming something, soon, it's fate.

Now it wakes, with wings unfurled,
A painted marvel, to the world.
Bright and bold, a gentle flyer,
Ready for its journey higher.

Across the lands, it takes its flight,
A long, long ride, with all its light.
To warmer lands, a grand new quest,
The monarch's journey, truly blessed.
