From County Cork To Kerrydale Street Poem by Daniel McDonagh

From County Cork To Kerrydale Street

Sean McBride and his young wife
Set out form County Cork,
They traveled over to Glasgow town
Were a football game they would watch,
They walked along the Gallowgate
Were the pubs played rebel tunes
And Sean McBride, was christened a Tim,
That rainy afternoon.

He wandered into the Timland shop
Were the Hoops were on display,
And bought himself a Celtic scarf
And a flag for his wife to wave,
In his hands, he carried a Celtic shirt,
The new one that is all green,
And asked if he could get printed on the back,
His hero’s name of Keane.

Sean McBride and his young wife
Took their seats at Celtic Park,
They sang ‘Walk On’ and the ‘Celtic Song’
Before and during the match,
Baptized on the Celts that day
They were sure that they would return,
For they would walk from County Cork
To watch the Irish pair of Keane and Lennon.
