From Podium To Prison Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

From Podium To Prison

From podium to prison

Had twelve when he left
-Bamiyan birthplace
-a Shiite among the Taliban
-descendants of the faiths
-introduced by London
-to rule them must divide
He was caught by his past
-his leaders and imposed
-Neutral Zone; Abdurrahman…
-for London and Russia
-so called peace between two
-meant a hell for many
-a bastard came to life
-to be named: Afghanistan…

Then came the WWII and Cold War

Nemat-likes became balls…? ? ?

At twelve therefore left
-afraid of Taliban and Sunnis
-and the men who enjoy sex with child

Lucky he
-unlike the too many
-he landed somewhere safe
-in sport he became
-someone to count on hope…

But his past caught with him
-you Afghan! Was insult

Had to leave like a fox
-in hiding, secretly…

UAE police shot
-killed colleague
-he became scapegoat behind bars
-podium of sport turned to cell! ! !

He must hate everyone…
