From The Depths Of My Heart Poem by Christopher Kirchner

From The Depths Of My Heart

From the depths of my heart to the heart of my God
Oh Lord, cut away every trace of my pride
Every selfish desire, every sin I would hide
Cut me out of the way so you might be glorified

On the altar I'm bound by the cords of your grace
Through pain-clouded eyes I see love on your face
Mortal wounds to the flesh from your knife is my plea
I surrender myself that Christ might be seen

Take my passion for sin and there in its place
Put a passion to know and seek only your face
Cut out sin's running sores, pour in your liquid fire
Let my heart burn for you, this is my one desire

From the depths of my heart to the heart of my God
Oh Lord, cut away every trace of my pride
Every selfish desire, every sin I would hide
Cut me out of the way so you might be glorified

From a time so dark that I knew i didn't even have the right to ask God to look at me, much less help me, yet he loved and forgave me
