Frozen In Summertime Poem by Lynn W. Petty

Frozen In Summertime

A petulant old fool is Father Time.
He speeds the interval between events
That have no relevant importance,
And then, impedes the happenings of those
Occurrences that are so dear to us.
Interminable is the wait from summertime
To summertime.
We have our twin grandchildren
Seven days and try to fill
The week with all year long.
A brood of mixed emotions roil around
Within my mind. Elation, rancor, joy and ire,
Become a gauzy drift of gray vexation,
That we are forced to wedge one year into a week.
While gathering my scattered thoughts,
I mused awhile about those weeks that we have had,
Reliving frozen fun from photographs,
And I forgave old Father Time,
For I have lived to have those weeks,
Observing there are those who
Never know the jubilance of just one day
Of grand-parental time.

NO COMMENT! ! ! ? ? I SHALL HAVE TO CORRECT THE SITUATION, asap. now to read the poem, a prerequisite, i suppose, to commenting. favorite sentence: (so far) Elation, rancor, joy and ire, Become a gauzy drift of gray vexation, That we are forced to wedge one year into a week. Reliving frozen fun from photographs, ............just last night i was looking at 15-35 years old paper photo prints, mostly of my daughter and her friends and relatives, including ME. i keep them in a clear plastic bag, about a three inch stack, with a rubber band around the whole. it was 'nice' to view and remember places and events and appearances, especially since i am no longer her mom's husband and no longer have childcare responsibilities! ! i never 'wanted' kids but 'allowed' my first wife to have one; 'the wife' decided on just one after she went through the quick, but painful, labor; she was such wuss/wimp. ha ha. i could pop babies out left and right, IF ONLY i had a uterus! ! ! i had my vasectomy a few months after my daughter was born. Lynn, take a look at the photos again. do it this week! ! bri :) to MyPoemList.
