Gallows Poem by Gengis Capote

Gallows

___ The Gallows stands erected close to my cell, awaiting my arrival at the steps of eternity. Each night another man is fitted the tater around his neck releasing them of their prison.I could easily escape this very night by my own hands cheat the hangman of his price.Newgate Gaol, now the Old Bailey would hear my silent screams no more.
Often my thoughts carry me away from here back to my home, embracing my loving wife as i whisper my devotion to her ear, she whispers back her gratitude tightening her arms making us fitted in a strong unbreakable hold... We are one in direction, she is my world and I hers, our seed convene has made perfection of beauty, three wonderful darlings are proof to the gift of life....I should escape this night using the sheet off my bunk, make it close to thirteen knots as I can, tied to the top of my cell door and around my neck, I could seat and start my journey back home to all that ever matter all I ever known as love, my wife and children my home.
