Game, The Poem by jack green

Game, The

Cross the grain and drop the ball.
Paint the town, screw it all.
Tempt fate, cast the stone.
Check yourself, correct the tone.

Sink the ship, set a course.
Fix the race, lame the horse.
Nip the bud, claim the prize.
Deal with devil, believe his lies.

Count the cost, win the bet.
Hung the jury, salvaged the regret.
Cherish the moment, welcome the day.
Be ever thankful, for a chance to play.
