Gasping Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Gasping

Power given
Is the power taking
You will go on living
Yet your quite mistaken

As power rules
With a naive consent
Why babies drool
Against all it resents

Helpless powers
Once so misunderstood
Now it cowers
Leading up to no good

Be powerless
In the thick of it all
Smoke you some bliss
Watch the great nation fall

Rings through the nose
Enemies in your mist
A population goes
By the names on the list

Thinking out loud
With the sentries on guard
Heads in the cloud
On a pike near the bard

Dare not we speak
Against the party line
Searching for leaks
Enforced by their carbines

Once it was great
When freedom gave a cause
Now it's too late
You've smashed the founders balls!
