The bombs keep dropping
and the buildings keep burning.
The blood keeps pouring
and the bones keep splintering.
The West still closes
its eyes to all the horrors
unfolding daily,
even though they appear on
myriad screens in
real-time. Panoramic views
are revealing, yet
many choose to look elsewhere.
Close ups of corpses
provoke cold steel responses.
Political elites
kowtow to propaganda.
No one among them
deviates from hackneyed scripts.
No- one bothers
to even lift a finger
to end genocide.
Evil is now normalised,
as innocence is
buried under the rubble.
The ragged other
is, alas, dehumanised.
