Get Me Out Poem by Danielle Shaw Cocking

Get Me Out

My heart is screaming, my life is ending
This broken heart, Needs some mending.
I’ve fallen further into the dark,
No more light, not even a spark.
The one I loved is still on my mind
I can’t turn away, can’t leave him behind.
My love for him has flown away,
But I still need him here
I have something to say.
I wish to tell him he broke my heart,
That he threw it away, and tore it apart.
But I also want to tell him I’m happy again,
I’ve found another,
Whose half as insane!
She’s sweet and she’s kind
And loves me to death,
But still he’s on my mind,
I may seem happy and like I’m fine.
But underneath I’m crying in pain.
Because between life and death is a very thin line.
And the longer I live
The more I die.
Why can’t you hear me?
Do I need to shout?
I need help, I want to get out.
