Get Ready And Wait Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Get Ready And Wait

Filtered sunshine and lightly falling rain
Intermittently play tag… off and on
Teasing intentions of outdoor activities
Tennis and golfing aspirations may be withdrawn

Rackets and clubs are sitting at the door hoping
Pending plans are hanging by a thin soggy thread
Patience is stretched to its maximum of elasticity
One way or the other the final say must be said

A giant clap of thunder shakes the house…
Debris from overturned trashcans is soaring
The wind is causing the drapes to billow
Close the windows now! The storm is roaring

This turn of events has broken the suspense
Now for sure the decision has been made
Time for an indoor pleasure like reading a book
If you can concentrate and ignore being afraid

A downpour continues to form flowing streams
Racing beside curbs… carrying twigs and leaves
The burst of rain is quickly loosing its force
Much to the relief of overflowing eaves

Timidly the sun starts to peek around clouds
Courageously it prevails… flexing its muscle
The smell of freshness invites a serious look
Sunglasses are a must; get ready…let’s hustle
