Getting Back On The Horse Poem by Warren Augustus de Guzman

Getting Back On The Horse

Rating: 5.0

I guess it’s just the price I pay
For everything that’s haunting me
The cost of all your love for me
Might be what pushes me away.

How do I fight the fear inside,
The gift of my last cruel lover
A pain so great that I must suffer,
To have you here, close at my side.

For if I give my heart to you
I give the whip to lash my hide
As did the last who was my pride
I won’t survive that pain renewed.

I guess it’s just the price I pay
A price that I can not ignore
I'll fight the fear of hearts so sore,
It will be worth it if you stay.
