Getting Up Poem by Randy McClave

Getting Up

You don't lose if you get knocked down
You don't lose respect or your crown,
And if or when you kiss the canvas
Remember, you are just like the rest of us.
You don't lose if you hit the ground
As long as you try a rebound,
And if you're up before the count of ten
You can then begin again.
You will remember all the punches thrown
And every flinch and moan,
And as long as you are prepared and ready to fight
Your victory is never out of sight.
If you stay down only then will you lose
That's the decision only you will choose,
Getting knocked down is not shameful or wrong
As long as you get right back up before to long.
