I felt sad and very depressed
To that fact to all I had confessed,
My life was literally falling apart
I now owned and nursed a broken heart.
Today I went and I rented a room in a hotel
Truly I felt like all hell,
I decided that I was going to end it all
"Goodbye"! was going to be my final call.
I was on my very last walk
As then to myself I just began to talk,
I had no friends as I solemnly cried
No one there was ever at my side.
I had no one to walk with or to talk to
And no one to ever say, "I love you",
As I headed back to the room where I was staying
Then I started praying.
I was walking alone sadly after dark
I then saw tulips in the park,
As I then headed back to my hotel room
I then thought of the flowers in bloom.
Then into my hotel room I uncaringly walked
I was suicidal as I thought and cried and never balked,
I decided to write my farewell note
"Goodbye, I am all alone" is all I wrote.
Then as I opened the nightstand drawer
Inside where the pencils and paper they did store,
There I found what I truly did need
I found a Gideons Bible for me to read.
The rest of the night that book I read
I felt no more loneliness or sadness or dread,
And then when the morning had arrived
That night, because of the Lord's love I survived.
In the morning from my hotel room I left
I no longer felt bereaved, destitute or bereft,
The note that I wrote was no longer part of my soul
I took back the note, and the Gideon Bible I stole.
