Gifts We Make Poem by Micron

Some may suspect I give to make friends
But the reason and gift given depends
You cant buy people yes I know
But your love and caring for others it can show
Ok some people take advantage of gifts
And expect more start producing shopping lists
True I give to people I do and don’t know
But many wont be friends them I’ll never see
But does it hurt to send them love from me
Does dropping money in a beggars hat
Mean you want to join him living like that
To me it means you want to help him survive
To progress, survive another day and come alive
A gift sometimes its simply to say I’m really sorry
I’ve been an idiot – ok I fret and worry
And the kids I now sponsor in the third world
This is a gift for their future in the place they’ve been hurled
For by simply sponsoring kids just a few
Can make a difference I hope this is true
Or does welcome gift to a work person
Say you want to be best buddies now come on!
Maybe the donuts you buy to lift collegues mood
Didn’t just mean you all down and fancied some food
To give to me just shows you care about others
Treat people with respect as fellow brothers
A thank you gift to someone who has helped you
I thought was politeness guess it depends on your view
Yes I’ve sent stuff to people I felt they’d like
And I hope sometimes I do get it right
And often their appreciation they don’t show
But knowing it may have brought a smile to a face
And lightened their day brought a moment of grace
Showed them in the world someone did care
Saying to them that there’s someone there
That’s is really just good enough for me
But that’s how giving to other people I see

Someone read something into one of my poems – great except it wasn’t that deep and meaningful so rather surprised me – as it was only about my everyday work factual no feelings what so ever and no idea where the idea it related to giving money to non friends came from – but I thought it would make an interesting subject for a poem. actually has turned into several - so thanks for the comment :)
