There's a girl sitting on the river bend
Her hair like the river. Flows with the wind
She sits there smiles and taunts me so
Calls me over and so I go
I sit with her throwing stones all day
Till with a frown she goes away
Years go by and each day evermore
I grow fonder of that happy shore
Until one day I return again
And see a lady on the river bend
Maybe the hair, the smile, the eyes
But feelings of hope in me arise
Is it God what fate is this
That I meet her in such manner of bliss
She sits there and smiles at me
The love in her eyes is clear to see
She calls me over and so I go
And sit with her till evening's glow
