Gnomon

From regular imprint of the large, bold 'aurochs'
at the top of 108*
I am able to amaze at Scrabble.

Large 'gnomon' which boldly tops 713*
(and this poem)
causes further impress.

I even know what they mean;
and where they're from.

Someone calling me 'ohso'
is calling me 'ox'.
I can take it from there.

The letter L is a gnomon,
a Greek carpenter's square.

PS 'sounds fishy' is 'impresses as ichthic',
and just above that,
a fossilized footprint's ichnitic.
