Goal Poem by VIJAY KUMAR ROY

Goal

Temples, churches and mosques abound,
So are the saints in different hues all around
Modern spiritual books thrive,
The earliest scriptures are decried,
New preachers appear day by day,
Education proliferates more than ever,
Learning has become a right,
Science abounds in inventions and discoveries
But what happened to morality and humanity?
Why are their thrones usurped?

Visit to holy places has become a pride,
As many sins so many pilgrimages,
None believes his home as a temple
And not treating all as sparks of the Almighty;
One who is enlightened with this belief
Has become a laughing stock.
Perception and precept have changed,
Religion and honesty have got different meanings,
Dogma and conservative beliefs have covered sacred outlook
Preaching and practicing have different paths;
Terror, murder, crime, rape, loot, cheating and befooling
Have become vehicles to achieve power and prosperity.

All are busy in this race,
Moving, moving and moving,
No direction, no end …….
