God Gives The Toughest Battles To The Strongest Soldiers Poem by Matt Starking

God Gives The Toughest Battles To The Strongest Soldiers

God gives the toughest battles
To the strongest soldiers.
Not because the road is easy,
But because He knows
What strength lies beneath the scars.
The storm did not come to destroy me;
It came to reveal
The courage I had never met,
The faith I had never fully trusted,
And the hope that refused to surrender.
I've walked through valleys
Where silence echoed louder than words,
Where tears became my nightly prayers,
And tomorrow seemed too far away.
Yet every sunrise whispered,
"Keep going."
The weight on my shoulders
Was never meant to break my spirit,
But to build a heart
That could carry compassion,
Wisdom, and unwavering faith.
A soldier does not choose the battlefield,
Yet stands firm in the face of fear.
Not because fear is absent,
But because purpose is greater than panic.
Every wound became a lesson.
Every setback became preparation.
Every closed door redirected my path
Toward blessings I could not yet see.
When the world counted my losses,
He counted my victories in progress.
When people saw defeat,
God saw a testimony being written.
So if your nights feel endless,
If your prayers seem unanswered,
If your strength is almost gone,
Remember this:
The battle is fierce
Because the purpose is great.
The burden is heavy
Because the calling is higher.
God has never abandoned His soldiers.
He walks beside them through every storm,
Carries them when they can no longer stand,
And crowns them when the battle is won.
So lift your head.
Steady your heart.
Hold tightly to your faith.
For the strongest soldiers
Are not those who never fall—
They are the ones who rise again,
Trusting that God's strength
Is greater than any battle.
And in the end,
The victory will never belong to the strongest alone,
But to those who never stopped believing
That God was fighting beside them all along.
