God's Coloring Book Poem by Vera Sidhwa

God's Coloring Book

God's Coloring Book

Today I gave my child
God's coloring book
And he painted the clouds white
And then he colored the sky blue.

My child's magic paint brush
Turned the transparent rose red
And another one orange
Then another yellow.

ROY

The talented child then turned
All the short and tall grass
Of this world
Light and then dark green.

G

The blue color of the sky
Reflected in the ocean.
The indigo fabric the girl wore
Was beautiful.

The violet of her eyes
Turned him to blush
A great surprise.
The boy then put down his God given paintbrush.

BIV

The boy's teacher had told him that
The colors of the rainbow were ROY G BIV.
Ah said the boy, it's red, orange and yellow
And green, the blue, indigo and violet.

So the boy said out loud, ROY G BIV
