God's Dilemma Poem by Lone Dog

God's Dilemma

(A Satire)

The Christians fought the Arabs in
A series of crusades.
They both claimed God was on their side.
What choice should God have made?

Then, the Allies fought Iraqis in
'Operation Desert Storm'.
And both said God was on their side
So whom should God have scorned?

And now, the Arabs fight the Jews,
And God is quite confused.
They, too, both claim He's on their side.
Which side, then, should God choose?

Now sports has always been a thing
That's interested me,
But many teams involve the Lord
In seeking victory.

The Superbowl's a grand event.
When Dallas met the Bears,
Before the game, both prayed for help,
Just how could God be fair?

Before a baseball pitch is thrown,
Some batters, for each side,
Are seen to cross themselves so God,
The outcome, can decide.

Thus, God has a dilemma that
We earthlings force on Him.
We want Him to play favorites
And side with every whim.

I know, that if there is a God,
He's bound to frown on war.
And as for helping teams to win?
God wouldn't 'fix' the score!
