God's Expectations Poem by Pamela O. Rucker

God's Expectations

GOD’S EXPECTATIONS

You walked through the streets

stones thrown at your flesh

Thorns wrapped around your head

but you didn’t love me any less

You were mocked and called names

to go along with the pain

I wonder if anyone even really

knew of your name

They wouldn’t give you any water

to satisfy your thirst

They did all they could to make

you suffer and hurt

But you still loved all men no

matter what it was they did

You pulled the weight of your cross

on your shoulders alone

This was your last day of life before

you were called home

But on the third day you arose

from your grave

To be there for me from this

world to save

You, the only begotten son

sacrificed for me

Is there any value in my life?

What is it that you see?

I pray Your expectations for

my life are met

And when my life is over

at Your feet I can set
