To me around the holidays
Is when God had in mind
To give us special surprises
He hopes that we will find.
The love for "stuff" is not
So much as the people we see
Whether in the stores shopping
Or visitors, it seems to me.
People are uplifted and excited
As holidays approach us
So much there is to do, of course
And mostly we enjoy the fuss.
Thanksgiving with our families
After all the Halloween fun
Shopping for Mr. Turkey
While we are constantly on the run.
In the back of our minds though
Christmas is there by now
We want to surprise our loved ones
We just are not sure how.
So God is bringing folks together
Around the end of the year
And for those who are all alone
For them let's say a prayer.
Let's always remember that sweet baby
That was born on Christmas day
Let us think about God's surprises
He gives them to us in so many ways.
