Golden Silence Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Golden Silence

Rating: 5.0

The soldier came home
Old friends were there waiting
Expecting a brief conversation.
But all was 'hush-hush'
Twas a silent occasion.
For his mind was absorbed
With that pretty young maiden...
The darling he so adored before
Leaving to join in the war.

These few words he calmly uttered:
'True love is mightier than the sword'.
