Gone Poem by Rachel Brewer

Gone

I look into the dark pits that you call your eyes,
And I see evil.
I stare blankly into your abyss,
And all I feel is hate.
I don’t understand how you can feel that bad?
Surely your life is better than that?
I look deeper and deeper,
Trying to find a glimmer of hope,
A speckle of happiness,
Or a sparkle of love.
Love that I was lucky enough to experience once.
Until someone sucked it all out of you.
I don’t know who that was, but they should be ashamed.
You were the best person I knew,
And they destroyed you.
Still trying to find you, I dive into your soul.
Looking for the man I knew, once,
But this was a lifetime ago,
And you aren’t there any more.
I know that I shouldn’t give up,
That I should keep looking for you.
But I don’t think it will do any good now.
Your gone.
