~ Gone ~ Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

~ Gone ~

Gone
Are
The days
Of my
Body
Bedecked
With
Ornaments:
Nose studs
Earrings
Toe rings
Finger rings
Anklets,
Amulets,
Lockets
Bangles,
Bracelets and
Necklaces....

My limbs
Weighed
Down by
Gold, silver
Pearls and
Diamonds.

All those
Precious
Metals and
Stones are
No longer
Needed by
Me and with
My body sans
Any, nothing
Shackling me,
I feel so light
And free :)

(I wrote this, thinking of those times when I used to love adorning myself with jewellery and now, not even an earring I wear, and I'm loving, being so bare and earthy, natural and simple.)

Part 2. I would respect a lady who dresses in simple attire and uses minimum ornaments, just enough to augment her presence and enhance her personality. She need not try to attract attention. She will, automatically.

Part 1. Wow! That is beautiful. I don't know, how women take it. But, I feel, women make themselves invisible when bedecked with too much of adornments and clad in too gaudy dress.
