Gone Forever Poem by James Walter Orr

Gone Forever

You sent me a picture and message.
A box arrived with a crystal ball,
And a tiny red square, a green circle
and a blue triangle. That's all.

The box could have easily been a frame
Containing a place for a picture.
Now only a frame, with no trace
of what couldn't pass some constricture.

What should have been is a mystery.
Does this mean my future, the forecast
of which, cannot now be foretold?
Am I now cut-off and silenced at last?

I wonder what now may have happened?
Am I gone now, existing nowhere?
My epitaph told by a small crystal ball,
Blue triangle, green circle, red square?

What did I do to deserve this
Fate so cruel, unjust, and unkind,
as to fade me from all sight and feeling,
and forever removed from your mind?
