Good And Evil Poem by Francis Duggan

Good And Evil

We hear of good and of evil these are mere words nothing more
Used by generations of leaders words often quoted before
We are the good our leaders tell us the evil in our enemy we fear
And we listen to what they do tell us and we believe what we hear.

We are the fools to believe them of our so called enemy what could we know
Where there is mistrust and suspicion friendship is not allowed to grow
Our so called enemy are only our enemy because their leaders tell them the same
As our leaders have told us about them and each the other does blame

For the growth in bad relations the words good and evil plays a part
The so called evil people that we hear of like us are born with a heart
Doesn't matter about our skin colour red is the blood that we bleed
We are of the Human Family and are all part of the one seed.

We hear of good and of evil but who is evil and who is good?
Those we are told that are evil would not look so evil if their ways we understood
Thanks to our so called wise leaders to the good in others we are blind
And if we only search for evil in others evil we surely will find.
