Good Morning Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

Good Morning

Rating: 5.0

Just one more moment my mind pleads
A silent yawn takes over my body
Leave me to the stars and day dreams
A blanket lies unused next to me
He pulls at my hand
...and tugs at my heart strings
He plays with the sham
...and in childish delight, sings
He pleads for more up
...and pouts with each oh no
He plays with his cup
...and smiles from head to toe
Just two more winks of needed sleep
With one eye closed yet just barely seeing
I smile at his smile as if I'm in a dream
With an 'UP' he determinedly leaves
He totters with a sway
...and walks with a prance
He rises early each day
...and is amazed by his hands
He seeks out fast play
...and runs whenever he can
He grins when told 'stay'
...and bounces when he stands
Just three more moments pretty please
You and I will both get food to eat
The morning comes with all its needs
Hello son and sunshine, goodbye sleep
