Goodnight 2000 Poem by moon dust

Goodnight 2000

I am west
The kiss of the desert was placed on me sometime ago
And the roads and highways since have chanted to me
Sister come on
And in the wind I felt changes

I am west of there
And the mountains smiled as I came in
And the sun bent his great head down on this spot of the world
And I felt his warmth
Occasionally
In the night
I hear the north woods calling to me
From a thousand miles away
Not as loud as the desert
But a whisper is heard
Come back Sister
The pines, they miss you under their branches
And the water speaks out your name

Each night I look into the desert
And past the yuccas and mesquite
And through the greasewood
Down the road a ways
I see the highway
But I am not ready
And when the summer heat gets too much
And the Santa Annas blow that warm smell of asphalt my way
I think I'll go visit my mountain friend.
